Regional food and regional arts

If you prefer regional products and visit the area around Bad Tölz, I have a recommondation for you.

In the beautiful landscape between Königsdorf and Bad Heilbrunn you can find a small hamlet named Brandl. It simply consists of a huge farm on the top of a hill, run by a young couple of dedicated farmers.

That wouldn´t be very special at all, if they would not run a "Hofladen", a farm shop, where they sell their own products: top quality food like meat and sausages from their own butchery, home made cheese, their own eggs and home baked bread.

Here is their website: www.thomahof-brandl.de, where you can find more information about their products.

In addition to their great food, they offer hampers (packed with herbs, liquors and hearty snacks) and other kinds of regional hand crafted products like knitwear and - now comes the part (beyond the food) that excites me - my watercolour illustrations from the series "Hausberge 2015".

Directly in the shop you can buy the original illustrations (with passepartout, for 45,- € each) or a set of postcards (including all images and a locator map, for 15,- €). Both do great as christmas presents!

The opening hours are Friday, 9:00 to 19:00 and Saturday from 8:00 to 14:00.

A stop at the Thomahof in Brandl is well spent time (especially if you are with kids): you can see animals (chicken, pigs, cow, deer, goose and ducks) doing their animal things in their compounds, you can have a walk around the farm area and enjoy the beautiful mountain view or you have a peek into the farm owned bakery, dairy or butchery and taste the great products.

The farmers and their staff are happy to welcome you in their farm shop with a warm and hearty atmosphere.
